So, the summer is now in full swing :-) Lots going on I must say. The house fell through today so won't be moving back to East London in August but, will be by September, we hope. Global e-mailed me tonight offering me a very last minute opportunity to do a phone interview with Carl Cox tomorrow morning (well, it would of been today by now) but, I had to say no as I don't have any bloody equipment! I could of recorded it on my phone but, last time I did a phone interview (with Nima Gorji) it stopped recording after like 3 minutes or something and totally fucked up the whole interview!!
It's not all doom & gloom, though. I'm heading to Global weekend after next with our resident photographer, Beth Marsh, and, being there as press, with press passes, we will obviously get to hang out in the press tent so I am now in the process of devising some questions & choosing a theme for my interviews.. I've requested:
1.) Adam Beyer
2.) Carl Cox
3.) Loco Dice
I'll get the chance to speak with them and will get to speak with loads more, as well :-) Press tents are cool places. It's part of their contracts, to hang out in the tents for a little while for the press to get time with them etc.. Like Lovebox 2010 for e.g I wasn't even doing anything for work but still got press access and spoke wiuth Ellie Goulding, Chase & Status & Dizzee Rascal who, I completely took the piss out of! I was talking to him but like he talks! I think I was saying stuff like "ya knowww/bredrin/brare/ya'get me?/course bruv/still" etc etc! Can't even remember what I said but it was amusing for me in my own little world!
Not much else to report on the old work front, really. Oh yeah, my ideas for theme/s for the Global feature was, well, one of them was 'In Bed With' and then the name of the DJ so like, In Bed With Carl Cox, In Bed With Loco Dice etc but, it sounds too 'In Bed With Space'esque'... You know what I mean? And the whole, '60 seconds with' is plain, old, boring. I'm racking my brains but will come up with something, no doubt :-)
After Global, I'll be doing SW4, Notting Hill Carnival and a few other London based gatherings and then off to Bestival with Dan, Paolo & the gang in September! (can't wait for that!) and then off to Ibiza on the 25th (same dates as last year) to do our end of season Ibiza feature. Quite a few of us going out, actually. Tons of photographers, Managers, promo girls etc but, they're paying for like 4 villas for us all! Not sure where, though? But still, never stayed in a villa before in Ibiza! Partied in a few but never actually stayed in one so, I'm looking forward to that, be a nice way to end the summer :-) Plus, we'll all get press/vip to all of the closing parties which, again, will be a first for me! :-)
What else before I hit the deck? Oh yeah, Berlin next year for 6-8 months, hell yeah! Now that I've got a bloody Macbook Pro (finally!!) I'm really getting into Music Production and have bought a few programs for my Mac and just having a play around at the mo (much to the dismay of the wife! Not paying her enough attention, apparently!) so, come next year, around March/April, I hope to be well educated on this program and will be heading out to Berlin and staying with a good friend/DJ of mine and focussing, purely, on producing tracks with her, finding out all about the Berlin Scene and getting my DJ Career pushed to it's full potential. Because lets face it, simply 'just' being a DJ, in today's industry, aint gonna get you anywhere, is it? You need to produce a few tracks, get your name known across the globe and then more doors will open. That's how Jamie Jones/Seth Troxler/Matthias Tanzmann etc all did it so, I'm just gonna see how it goes and see what doors will open :-) I'm hopeful that something will come out of a 6-8 month stay in Berlin.
And that's all from me...

A Commercial Journey: Luciano & His Merry Men

The Chilean Godfather of tech house/minimal: Luciano, is this summer season, making his mark more present within the white rocks of Ibiza. After a problematic start at Ushuaia Beach Bar with his Vagabundos party being kindly asked to move along, Lucien and his Cadenza team have still managed to retain their weekly party, Cadenza Lab, each and every week at Pacha, Ibiza. I can't help but worry slightly that Luciano's presence at Pacha could take him off the underground map and put him firmly on the overground route with the likes of David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia & Mark Knight? From his earlier days of rocking the hedonistic and ever so slightly addictive Circo Loco parties at DC10, people are now starting to ask the question: Is Luciano becoming a tad too commercial?
His drive and passion for that unique sound of minimal loops and Latin vocal samples are somewhat his trademark sound and have truly made him top of his game however, I personally think that his thirst for the money Pacha are willingly throwing at him and his team, could, turn him into another Guetta and he could soon be months away from teaming up with Akon for Top40 Radio 1 track?
Only time will tell with how the summer will unfold for Mr Luciano and his Vagabundos crew. Either way, he is still our Number One DJ and we firmly support him whatever his decisions may be. Let's hope, either way, that Dave Pearce never gets the chance to congratulate him with a No1 in the Top40.

Up At The Crack Of Dawn... :-)
Man, I've been up since 5am watching proper in-depth documentaries like a right loon! I guess I must be excited about my meeting today with Georgio....!! Basically, we're meeting a promoter to discuss the final plans for our debut sets at Ministry! We're playing on the 31st July, Baby Box....V excited to play there & I'm happy with that :)
Also, Fabric is looking like it's going to happen as well. I'll be playing in September for WYS, just need to confirm all this before I go running my Billy Big Gob all over town ! What else? Hmmmmm.... Playing this Sunday for Damaged, a party that seems to be exactly like Fuse. Great crowds, great little venue, right in the heart of Shoreditch and what's best about it? I have a little following of friends/fans now that follow me to gigs. It's the start of something, not sure what, but it's a start non-the-less.
Will also be playing for MiMo/Big In Ibiza yet again, this time NOT in Vauxhall but in Shoreditch, at a Warehouse party, v excited. I have a meeting, sometime later this summer, to discuss playing as a resident for DoubleTroubleProductions. These guys are firm friends and having just done the most epic warehouse party alongside Matthias Tanzmann & Davide Squillace, I hope to be on board with them by this September as they're just putting together another warehouse party, this time featuring two of the BIGGEST DJ's B2B in the middle of a disused warehouse in East London..this party will be fucking HUGE! Much bigger than any party Fabric have ever hosted. Seriously, warming up at that party would be a dream come true :-D
Back to more pressing things, time for work now ;) Ciao x

Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer
This woman is off her nut! A total and utter psycho but, she has such an amount of charm and character about her, you can't help but like her for some reason!? Watch it and you'll understand.
Reggie Kray
Just watched this as well and, this is British Film at its best, man! To think my Dad spent his former years in the East End, in and around these boys is truly mental. Hats off to these guys, they should of never been banged up. Plus, seeing parts of Bethnal Green etc back then is weird, as it don't look any different now...!
My Father, Pablo Escobar - True Stories: My Father, Pablo Escobar
Just finished watching this (random start to the day!) and 'WOW' is the only word that springs to mind.. This guy truly had everything in the world and then lost it all, naturally. The rise, fall and eventually murder of this guy is brilliantly portrayed in this documentary. What a fucking dude!

A Rhythmatic Place. Words by Ash Tamburro:

Tucked away behind those quirky streets, in the land of trendies that we love to hate and call, Shoreditch, you will find Hewett St car park. It's played a part in an impressive collection of underground events over the years however, Saturday 12th June 2010 saw it open her doors to the Rhythmatic - Cavo Paradiso World Tour. The excitement surrounding this event over the past months has been something, epic! Everyone and their Mothers knew that Tanzmann & Squillace were in town and about to go head to head in a full on, techno driven B2B session, right in the heart of East London.
From the minute we entered the venue, you got an overwhelming sense of 'cool vibes' and music that just seemed to go 'hand in hand' with the overall edginess of the space. The crowd was a mixture of dedicated fans of the boys and general cool East London kids, bouncing around in patchwork denim with their faces painted and ego's dressed down. Waiting at either of the two bars seemed to be acceptable, especially as the rooms were not only alive with colour and charm but, also appeared quite intimate. The promoters (DoubleTroubleProductions), didn't go wrong either with a standard Funktion 1 sound system which, for the openness of the space, only injected more satisfaction into the room. At one point, we found ourselves stood in front of a Corona sponsored truck/DJ booth in room 2 which, was a nice touch and only assisted Rhythmatic residents, Wesley Razzy, Rico Novo and friends in creating their own madness with the masses. The choice of having two, equally as banging rooms, really did keep the party going right through till the end.
After 4 hours of teasing and pleasing with residents Alex Celler, Stathis Lazarides and Betoko in the Main Room, 02:30 came and Matthias & Davide were rushed in and boy, that's when the atmosphere really became something special. Both boys, this summer, are now a part of DC10's "New Era" which, seems to have put DC10 firmly back in business. Past residents Luciano & Loco Dice have now made their mark in DC10's history books and have now moved aside to let residents such as Seth Troxler, Zip and DJ W!LD get into the swing of things alongside supporting residents Clive Henry, Jamie Jones, Dixon and Arpiar. .
After a quick change over of mixers, Matthias and Davide opened up in true fashion. The crowd were sensational and seemed to be going wild in every corner of the room! The DC10 boys exploded with excitement and their electric rapport, not only with eachother - but also with their records - really did rub off on the room. To see friends, resident goers and other extraordinary folk all floating around with smiles on their faces and showing no signs of fatigue, made this night a special journey from start to finish and most certainly - one to remember.

Adios Luciano.. (Cadenza - official press release)

Every Sunday Luciano and the Vagabundos crew lead thousands of party people
to the white sands at Ushuaia. Beneath the sun and stars the true spirit of
Ibiza explodes in a burst of heat, energy and excitement propelled by the
finest dance music on the planet. No wonder the island establishment is
looking on nervously, gnawing their fingernails, wondering what to make of
the Vagabundos juggernaut of mischief and music!
The grown-ups in Ibiza want peace and quiet, in other words, tame little
parties in tame little clubs, playing nice, tame music. They can't
understand the anarchic vibe of the Vagabundos so, like responsible adults,
they've arrived at the party, fingers wagging, and told them to turn the
music down, turn the lights off, and for god's sake, pack up and go home!
That's right: Luciano and company are officially too hot for even Ushuaia to
handle. The party is cancelled and the Vagabundos have been told to go home
and stay out of trouble.
What is there to say? If Luciano and the Vagabundos threw the kind of party
the Ibiza establishment approved of it would be pretty damn boring. And the
Vagabundos would rather spend Sunday afternoon?s at their granny's house,
drinking orange juice and playing cards, than throw a bad party. It?s just
not going to happen. So, like true Vagabonds, the crew keeps moving. This
isn?t the first time, and it won?t be the last the Vagabundos party ethos
puts the authorities?
heads in a spin.
With a fond farewell to sunny afternoons at Ushuaia, the Vagabundos are
eager for the next installment of seaside musical mayhem. Where will they
strike? No-one knows! But if you follow the trail of futuristic beats, hot
bodies and the whiff of anarchy you?re sure to find them. Meantime, you can
catch the Vagabundos Sunday nights at Pacha. But hurry!
Can a respectable club like Pacha contain the Vagabundos mischievous madness for much longer?
So it's adios Ushuaia, thanks for the good times. And for all who share
the true Vagabundos spirit stay tuned for the further adventures of Luciano
and his merry men!

My Ego Is Fucking Huge & So It Should Be!
I feel sick man :( Have an interview this week with a really amazing website for the role of digital content manager/podcast king! Salary's wkd, perks are even better and the team are down to earth. What to do though? Leave my current job (which is ace) and risk becoming 'that guy' who goes from one thing to another..? Hmmm. We'll see.
No major plans other than that for this month. Festivals now confirmed! Lovebox, Global, SGP & Bestival. All free? Of course. One of the perks I could lose if I leave my current job!
I always seem to meet random people and this weekend, I did. Oh my God. Last year, at Monza Closing, I met some random dudes and girls and ended up partying with them for one night only. And that was it. No numbers or Facebook adds, it was what it was...Ibiza. A wkd terrace party on Saturday then food, drinks and naughties al fresco that eve and into the wee hours closely followed by Damaged Sunday night... Halfway through the night, who do I randomly bump into on the middle of the dancefloor..? The same people I met in Monza! MENTAL.COM! And they know all my friends too plus, I think I'm still in love with one of them!! Good times ahead most definitely :-D
Chris Liebing e-mailed me today thanking me for coming down to meet him @ Fabric last week. That's why I love my fucking self!

Swedish House Gash'ia
Just left SHM early as the gig was fucking awful. Double mug & chips is all I can say about them boys, jeez! If I had to review this gig, I would be Seriously upset at my Manager for suggesting that I take the time out to even do such a thing....! The only decent quality about the night, was the pyrotechnics that assists their performances. It's a cross between a really trippy squat party and a circus; visually stunning.
Still, what a waste of our time. We went down to the floor and it was carnage, of the bad sort. Full of kids, fucked out of their faces, all wearing dated neon (did I just walk into a Tidy gig?) and parading around pilled off their nuts with bright-blue-tongues. Tragic...
At one point - we were stood right next to the boys and they were all huddled together, chatting and doing shit on their phones, whilst the music was still playing and the front of the booth/stage was completely empty???!
As for the music. Dated tunes, pretentiously remixed and poorly executed. Think: Run DMC meets a poor Lady Gaga. Plus, the average track they played lasted less than two minutes.
A quick goodbye to the staff, a sharp exit and a 20 minute Add Lee journey we arrive back in Notting Hill, bitching and getting ready for a PROPER party session commencing in 6 hours :) What to do to fill the time *grins*
Me being me, couldn't resist a dig at Seb Ingrosso for spending more time on his phone than he did on the decks *rolls eyes & chuckles like a little girl*.
It read something like this:
"Dude, get off your phone, seriously!! You came to perform, so do just that. You have thousands of fans in front of you that paid good money to see you play records, not update your life. Or have you got too big for your own shoes that you've forgotten that you're a FUCKING DJ!! waaaaaaaa :-p"
(I hope that comment doesn't land me in it @ work....?!)
All in all; A glamorized, Saturday night Disco Dave with his two mates, pressing buttons and giving a lemonade performance on a Champagne budget.
Laters,

Just Me
Okay kids, here's the abridged Page 6 version of the Artful Dodger, no, not the DJ, me, Mr Tamburro: I'm a geezer
And this is the part I think a footnote would suffice as to why I chose to start off my description like that, with "I'm a geezer". Let's just say that, that is my trump card. I find myself doin' things West Londoners call "unconventional" and things East Londoners call "superb".
I hate being pigeon-holed, being stereotyped etc. I've got an eclectic taste in and for things. And will sometimes go overboard. But that's my personality. I couldn't have it any other way. So that's my excuse for everything, good or bad ~ "I'm a geezer." Outside of that, I'm just a regular bloke who's got both good & bad boy streaks that make me both edgy and charming. "The horns hold the halo in place", as they say.
I'm also a diehard Ibiza fan :-D The only white rock you should get high on is Ibiza But all in all, I'm pretty much a cross between my Dads charm, my Mums thirst for partying, Russell Brands lust for women, Frankie Wildes trashyness and Pete Dohertys nose for drugs. And no, I'm not gay.

I hate electing. I walked into the polling station yesterday and said Conservatives? really loud! Got some evil stares off the pensioners. Seriously cannot wait to get out of London for a few days..all this election shit has turned people into patriotic pricks all of a sudden. Doing some more gigs next coming weeks. TBar was a joy. It's absolutely piss! I have truly found my niche in life :) I love control, and this is control 110%
