A Commercial Journey: Luciano & His Merry Men

The Chilean Godfather of tech house/minimal: Luciano, is this summer season, making his mark more present within the white rocks of Ibiza. After a problematic start at Ushuaia Beach Bar with his Vagabundos party being kindly asked to move along, Lucien and his Cadenza team have still managed to retain their weekly party, Cadenza Lab, each and every week at Pacha, Ibiza. I can't help but worry slightly that Luciano's presence at Pacha could take him off the underground map and put him firmly on the overground route with the likes of David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia & Mark Knight? From his earlier days of rocking the hedonistic and ever so slightly addictive Circo Loco parties at DC10, people are now starting to ask the question: Is Luciano becoming a tad too commercial?

His drive and passion for that unique sound of minimal loops and Latin vocal samples are somewhat his trademark sound and have truly made him top of his game however, I personally think that his thirst for the money Pacha are willingly throwing at him and his team, could, turn him into another Guetta and he could soon be months away from teaming up with Akon for Top40 Radio 1 track?

Only time will tell with how the summer will unfold for Mr Luciano and his Vagabundos crew. Either way, he is still our Number One DJ and we firmly support him whatever his decisions may be. Let's hope, either way, that Dave Pearce never gets the chance to congratulate him with a No1 in the Top40.
